Understanding Self Concept

When it comes to manifestation you do not get what you want, you get what you believe. Which is why it is imperative that you work on your inner beliefs, perceptions and assumptions you have about your self. This is known as your self concept; how you view your identity and place in the world. Your self concept shapes your thoughts, emotions, and actions, influencing how you experience life and interact with others. This is why it is so so important to align your identity with what it is you are trying to manifest, so that you can become an energetic match.

For example if you have a belief that rich people are evil, than how are you supposed to be come a magnet to wealth? You are actively repelling money with that belief! But if you are able to change your thought patterns and belief systems you can align yourself with your desires and they will flow to you easily. How can you change your self concept you ask? Let's get in to it.

What is Your Current Self Concept?

First you must identify your current self concept and your limiting beliefs and patterns. How do you do this? Look around you! Your current life is a reflection of your self concept. As within, so without; everything around you is a reflection of the internal beliefs you have about yourself. Are you in a job that you hate, working minimum wage? Then perhaps you feel unworthy of having more, or you have fear that you wouldn't know how to handle large sums of money if you did have it. Something is blocking you in this area, there is a limiting belief here.

Are you in a relationship with a partner that you love? If not, why not? Do you believe that there are no more good men out there? Do you believe you are worthy of love, and to be spoiled with princess treatment? Dig deep.

This might be uncomfortable because you are looking at areas of your life that you are unhappy with or need improvement. This is normal, the pain of discomfort in your current reality is what is pushing you to change. You must identify your current limiting beliefs and the thoughts you have about yourself so that you can begin to rewrite them. You can use these journal prompts to help you discover your current self concept.

How to Transform Your Self Concept

Now that you have discovered the areas of your life that you want to improve, it's time to get to work. There are several methods and techniques that you can use to reprogram your mind and change your thought patterns. This is like installing a new operating system in your mind, you will be changing your mindset to align with your future self who has all the things you desire.

Visualization: Visualize your future self, how does she look, what is her day to day schedule and most importantly how does she think and feel.

Affirmations: Reprogram your mind with empowering beliefs. You can do this by scripting affirmations and really feel them to be true as you write them out. You can refer to this list of affirmations if you need some inspiration.

Self Talk Rampages: This is one of my FAVOURITE tools to use. I love listening to self talk rampages created by other successful women, because it's like getting a sneak peek into their mind and the thoughts they have about themselves and the world. This has been one of the most powerful tools for me personally. Because how do you know what kind of thought patterns your future dream self has if you have never thought those thoughts before? Self talk rampages to me are like the cheat code into up-levelling your thought patterns. My favourite rampages are from SCMA. The ones I listen to daily are: "I am a bad ass CEO" and "I am a magnetic baddie."

Embodiment: Now that your new thought patterns are fresh in your mind you must go about your day as if you were your future self. When you are faced with a decision you can ask yourself; how would my future self handle this? Embodiment is KEY when it comes to solidifying all the mindset work you just did. Embodying your new beliefs is what is going to make you so magnetic to everything you are manifesting.

Nervous System Regulation: This goes hand in hand with embodiment, because you can't truly embody your new identity if you are stuck in fight, flight or freeze. If your nervous system is dysregulated than your body won't feel safe accepting these new changes you are trying to implement. This is how you can get stuck in a repetitive cycle without truly moving forward. There are many techniques you can use to regulate your nervous system. These will allow you to release old thoughts, triggers and emotion and make room for your new beliefs to set in. Look into techniques like somatic exercises, EFT tapping, and breath-work.

Stay Consistent

Stay consistent with these practices, you should be doing some, if not all of them daily. These habits are what is going to reinforce your new self concept. Make time to do your morning meditations and visualizations, self-talk practice, scripting, and nervous system regulation. You'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish when you refuse to stay the same.
